I would think this topic would be teeming with over a billion replies. On account on how wildly popular the series has been since they started making the movie! lol Well, I absolutely LOVE the Twilight series. The sad thing is though, I get embarrassingly obsessed so I have to be careful when I choose to read the series.

I was first, easily, a Edward fan, but after rereading the series twice - I am now Switzerland. - A Jacob and Edward fan. I guess I can't help sympathizing for Jacob. =/

The reason this thread has so few replies is that your average Twilight fan doesn't have the forethought to read the stickies or the titles of the stickies before posting.

BEST BOOKS EVER!!

...

See, now, I don't hate Twilight, but they are not the best books ever, and if you think they are, you are borderline obnoxious.

They are the best books ever to exceedinglyrare because that is their opinion. I love the Twilight series, it is very entertaining. I wouldn't say it's a classic, but it's very good.

The way I see why it's so popular is because many girls can relate to Bella. I for one can't stand Bella because I really hate the damsel in distress routine she plays all the time, but I love the story though. It's one of those types of books anyone can read and enjoy. It's simple, easy to understand, and it's not subjective to one particular group which is why I think it's so popular.

I do like the Host better than the Twilight series, it has more depth and a better plot. It's a sci-fi, and I usually hate sci-fi, but I really liked it. The book is well written, and it's not "teeny" at all like Twilight is.

Objectively, they are very poorly written, not a comparatively interesting story and full of cliches. I have yet to read Host (mostly for lack of desire to do so), but there's no arguing that Bella Swan is a Mary Sue, that Edward Cullen has no personality, that the only three-dimensional character in the series is Jacob Black (and he's an asshole) and that the books are fluff. If you enjoy fluff, as I tend to do, they're fun for that, but to behave as if they're some great literary achievement is just naivete.

But it's really all a matter of opinion. It's the best book ever to some people, while others don't like it. There's no point in arguing with these matters because no one is right or wrong because it's all based on opinion. You don't think it's good literature, but others do. And nobody is wrong, but nobody is right, these matters are very objective.

I like the books, I don't think they're a classic though. They are good books, which every person I know who's read it liked them. Most of the so-called classics, teenagers don't like to read. Nowadays they don't want to think about something to understand it. Twilight is straightforward, easy to understand, entertaining, and has an interesting story. I mean come on, what girl wouldn't want to date a sexy vampire?

Again: this is an objective fact. It's not a matter of opinion. The books are poorly written. The characters are flat and unrealistic. The books are fluff. That is why some people like them. People (usually teenage girls) who think that they are the BEST BOOKS EVAH are delusional and need to take a course in literature or at least pick up a copy of Tolkien.

This is really dumb arguing about this. It is not a fact, it is a matter of opinion. There are classics that are supposed to be amazing literature, but everyone who I know reads them hates them. This includes my English teachers on a lot of cases.

Everyone has different tastes, and that matter if a book is good or bad; there's just no point in arguing because it is all a matter of opinion.

Same goes with movies, music, plays etc. I might think this one band is godlike, while someone else might think that the band is a bunch of garbage. Seriously, it's a matter of opinion. You have yours, I have mine, and everyone else has theirs.

Take an intensive course studying literature, tbh. Objectively, and compared with even modern books, the Twilight series is lacking. The writing is at about the level of a fifteen-year-old, at best, and not in a good way (purple prose + flat characters = belongs on fanfiction.net). This isn't something that's a matter of opinion: the characters are one-dimensional (and if they're not, please show me a different side of Bella besides simpering over Edward and whinging over how much Forks sucks) and the prose is purpler than Barney eating grape jelly ("scintillating arms?" Please).

Now, this isn't an argument about whether or not you should like these books; that's all your opinion, and again I'll say: I enjoy Twilight for their value as fluff. The fact of the matter is that the characters are one-dimensional and the writing is childish and purple. Those are objective facts and, as most people will agree, those are two characteristics that make writing tend towards the bad side of things.

ok. i was really skeptical about the twilight series, my sisters forced me to read them and once i started i completed all three books within 24 hours, i didn't sleep, i just couldn't put them down. the writing really isn't that great and edward/bella's relationship is sometimes too over the top but you can't help but get sucked in!! i'm psyched for the fourth book and the movie, although i think the woman playing bella isn't right, all in all its not quality BUT its addicting.
