I thought it was about time there was a complete thread for makeup. So, this is one I made, and you know you wanna contribute. What brand makeup do you use? I use.. Foundation: Maybelline Matte Mousse Blush: Covergirl Instant Cheekbones Mascara: Rimmel Magnif'EYE'r Eyeliner: Prestige in Very Black Powder: Covergirl Lip balm: Bonne Bell Big Ones in Vanilla Lip gloss/colour: Models Prefer Eyeshadow: BYS Bronze Shimmer. What would you highly recommend? I would recommend... I spent so long trying to find a good blush, and almost gave up until I found Covergirls Instant Cheekbones. Go out. And get it. NOW. It's about $10AU but worth every single penny, I got the bronze/peach coloured one, and it's so smooth. <3 I've never even been one to gush about products or whatever, because I always found that lame. But. Rimmel Magnifeyers Mascara. Heaven sent, approved by God himself! Fucking fantastic, the brush is amazing and it goes on so evenly. Other products... Nail Polish: Maybelline Wet Shine in Clear Diamond. Straightening Product: Davroe Hot Stuff (Awesome) Wax: Sunsilk I think I have found a mix of the best products ever. All I really need to improve on now is my foundation, cos mine sucks. Oh, and a 'main' eyeshadow would be fantastic. Share your stories, tips, tricks, whatever. What's your usual makeup? Brands? What would you recommend, and what would you desperately like to try? Post edited at 12:00 am on May 1, 2007 by iloveto

For a foundation, i think maybelline pure makeup. i use that, and its light and also cheap, about $15NZ for a tube that lasts months.

My makeup bag isn't particularly impressive. I'm constantly swapping old products for new products to play around to find better ones. But at the moment it is: Foundation - MaxFactor Lasting Performance, in Pastelle. Am going to try Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse next though, as a large number of people have recommended it to me. Concealer - Rimmel Hide The Blemish, in Sand. Am going to swap to a Barbara Daly Tesco concealer next though, as I've read lots of wonderful reviews about it in magazines. Powder - Barbara Daly Tesco pressed powder - absolutely AMAZING, which I really didn't expect from Tesco makeup. I bought it on recommendation and it's great. Blush - Maybelline expertwear blush - alright, I suppose. Mascara - At the moment, No7 Intense Volume. It's okay. I've tried millions of mascaras and never been particularly impressed though. Pencil Eyeliner - Rimmel. Good. I use some Barry M pencil eyeliners on nights out, but haven't been particularly impressed with them either. Liquid Eyeliner - Rimmel. I use some Urban Decay Heavy Metal eyeliners when going out at night though. Eyeshadow - I use millions of eyeshadows, as I'm big into doing up my eyes. I love my Barry M eyeshadows, and my Urban Decay too. I've quite a few good Loreal eyeshadows too. And many, many more. Lip gloss - I'm not big into doing up my lips, as I have small lips =( I would normally use a 17 lipgloss tube thing that my friend Ciara got me. It's fairly good for quite a natural sheen.

Foundation: Clinique Gentle Light (In "candleglow" - which I think is meant to be a nice way of saying 'paler than an albino goth'..and it's still too dark for me). It's really great make-up, but looks so much better when applied with a foundation brush. Uhh..YSL perfect touch is better though. Diorshow blackout mascara which is amazing and you get loads of free crap with it. Benetint. People go on about how amazing this is but it's actually quite shit, it looks like food colouring on your cheeks and stains your fingers. The problem is it lasts for aeons and I'd feel awful throwing it away. & sometimes a little touche eclat (which, btw, is the greatest product you will ever buy. You can also get different SHADES in the U.S! Wow. It only comes in one colour here..)

Foundation: Bare Minerals. Love it, compared to any foundation I've used. Others made my skin look flaky, but this doesn't. Eyeshadow: Usually MAC eyeshadow, but I also like Too Faced and I've recently gotten into mineral eyeshadow and MAC pigments. Eyeliner: MAC eyeshadow Mascara: Right now Maybelline. I need to get a new one. Powder: Clinique. Lip balm: Burt's Bees.

Katy, I really wouldn't bother with the foundation, it is absolutely gorgeous when you first get it, but by the 'middle mark' of the tub, it does nothing as good as it did before for your skin.

YSL is my BITCH. They make the most precious and flattering lip colours, not to mention my favourite mattifying powder. I'm not at all a foundation girl. I find that if I work hard to achieve it, I can achieve fantastic skin tone, to the point where I need no coverup. That's the way I like it, personally, because I feel makeup works best on a good base. I'll use a little illuminator and mattifying powder, but I can't stand foundation, as my skin changes a lot, and I don't like the feel of most foundations. Not to mention my skin tans and fades really easily. I also do striking eye colours. Fyrinnae, MAC PRO pigments, and MAC PRO liners are my personal favourites. Emerald green is my gem, as well as any gold-hued blacks, medium greens, warm golds and rose golds. Some shades of sea blue-green also work for me, but blue is VERY tricky. Its taken me years of experimentation to find my perfect shades. As for mascara? I was blessed with a tonne of really thick, long eyelashes, so I just curl them on special occasions, and I'm right to go! I love a good lipstick. My current favourite is YSL Lip Twins, in Fuschia/Orange. Its a divine duo, the pink is really bold, silky, and perfect for my skin tone [I'm actually what you might call a perfectly neutral skin tone. I'm Eurasian, and proud!], and the smooth orange gloss is a fantastic little pop of colour. Love. [Mac also do a lipstick or two that I love... Chic, Chili and Russian Red are a few that I wear regularly.] Post edited at 6:19 pm on May 1, 2007 by Eliska
